How Can I Identify High Quality PET Plastic Materials?

As a plastic material, PET mainly consists of polyethylene terephthalate PET and polybutylene terephthalate PBT. polyethylene terephthalate is also commonly known as polyester resin. PET is heard a lot in everyday life, but not many people know how to identify what is high quality PET plastic material.
PET is a milky white or light yellow highly crystalline polymer with a smooth and shiny surface. Creep resistance, fatigue resistance, good friction resistance, small wear and high hardness, with thermoplastics in the toughness; electrical insulation performance is good, affected by the temperature is small, but poor corona resistance. Non-toxic, weather resistant, good stability against chemicals, high hygroscopicity, drying before moulding is necessary. Resistant to weak acids and organic solvents, but not to thermal immersion in water and not to alkalis.
PET resin has a high glass transition temperature, slow crystallisation, long moulding cycles, long forming cycles, high moulding shrinkage, poor dimensional stability, crystallised moulding is brittle, low heat resistance, etc.
Through nucleating agents as well as crystallising agents and glass fibre reinforcement improvements, PET has the properties of PBT in addition to the following PET plastic identification methods:
1, first smell the smell, PET taste different from the general plastic, burn it with a lighter, then you will smell a very fragrant and comfortable smell (burn a random bottle to smell), if PET contains other ingredients, the smell is very pungent. If the PET contains other ingredients, the smell will be very pungent. Some bottles contain SEBS ingredients and cannot be used.
2, pull the silk, when burning on the lighter pull the silk, see if the silk is long, and then pull the silk out of the break, look at the middle of the break, the silk is not rolled into small circles, the more rolls indicate a high melting point.
3, look at the burned part, if the excessive black or oil drips quickly, most melting point is not normal, which is often found in PET film flakes.
But generally if it is a bottle flake, there should not be any major problems. The key point is to tell if it contains PVC, which is the Achilles' heel of PET. First take a sample and then lay it flat in a sunny place. PVC is light blue in sunlight. If folded in half there will be a white crease. The above is a visual identification, which is limited in accuracy and depends mainly on experience.
If the goods contain PVC, there will be a lot of yellow spots on the surface; if the melting point is not enough, it will melt very quickly.
In fact to do PET also includes many varieties, such as PET crushed film coming down from foreign factories, slurry block material, rolls of film less than 30 cm in length, all of which have different customer groups.
The identification of these goods strongly requires the use of an oven to test them. In particular, PET rolls are a very scarce source of goods throughout the market, generally in lengths of 80 to 120 cm or more, and the price of high quality PET plastic raw materials with a thickness of 3-5 filaments is also very high (white and transparent).
Learn to identify PET plastic raw materials, you can easily find good quality plastic raw materials.
